Subject: A Real Eye Opener (Harry Potter Info:)

"Jesus died because He was weak and stupid"; This is a quote from 6 year old Jessica Lehman of Easley, SC, - after reading the HARRY POTTER BOOKS!

The following is an email sent for the American Family Association, which is VERY disturbing, to say the least. Please forward to all email contacts, especially Christians and Pastors.

Dear Christian: This is the most evil thing I have laid my eyes on in 10 years ... and no one seems to understand its threat. The Harry Potter books are THE NUMBER ONE selling children's books in the nation today. Just look at any Barns & Noble or Waldenbooks storefront. OR - Go to Amazon.com and read the reviews. Read the touting by educators and even (so-called) 'Christian' teachers about how "It's great to see the youth so eagerly embracing the reading experience!"

Harry Potter is the fictional product of a former UK English teacher who promotes witchcraft and Satanism. 'Harry' is a 13 year old 'wizard'. Her books openly blaspheme Jesus, and God, and openly promotes sorcery. 'Harry' also teaches children to seek revenge on anyone who upsets them by giving them examples of spells & rituals and demonic powers (even the sources with authors & titles)!

The 'real' problem is that parents have not reviewed the material. The name seems harmless enough...HARRY POTTER.......but that is where the 'harmlessness' ends!! Here are some quotes from some 'influenced' readers:

"The Harry Potter books are cool, 'cause they teach you all about magic and how you can use it to control people and get revenge on your enemies" , says 10 year old Craig Nowell, Hartland WI...a recent convert to the New Satanic Order of the Black Circle; "I want to learn the Cruciatus Curse to make my "muggle" science teacher suffer for giving me a D." (A "muggle" is an 'unbeliever' of magic)

Or how about the REALLY young and innocent impressionable mind of a 6 year old? 6 year old Jessica Lehman of Easley said , "Jesus died because He was weak & stupid."

And then there is dear Ashley, a 9 year old (the 'average age' reader of Harry Potter) "I used to believe in what they taught us at Sunday School," said Ashley, who is attempting to conjure up an ancient spell to summon Cerebus, the three-headed hound from hell. "But the Harry Potter books showed me that magic is real, something I can use right now, and that the Bible is nothing but boring lies."

DOES THIS GET YOUR ATTENTION? If not, how about a quote from a High Priest of Satanism: "Harry is an absolute god-send to our cause," said High Priest Egan of the First Church of Satan in Salem, MA. "An organization like ours thrives on new blood (no pun intended) and we've had more applicants than we can handle lately. And of course practically all of them are virgins, which is gravy."

(Since 1995, open applicants to Satan worship has increased from around 100,000 to now 20 MILLION children and young adults!) This makes me physically ill!!

But, I think I can offer you an explanation of why this is happening. Children have been bombarded with action, adventure, thrills and scares, to the point that Hollywood can produce nothing new to give them the "high". Parents have neglected to be fully aware of what their children are reading and doing, and simply seem to be satisfied that "Little Johnny has become very interested in reading". AND educators and the NEA are PUSHING this with NO WARNING as to it's effects or contents!!

Still not convinced?

I will leave you with something to let you make up your own mind. A quote from the author herself, J. K. Rowling, describing the objections of Christian reviewers to her writings: "I think it is absolute rubbish to protest children's books on the grounds that they are luring children to Satan," Rowling told a London Times reporter in a July 17 interview. "People should be praising them for that! These books guide children to an understanding that the weak, idiotic Son Of God is a living hoax who will be humiliated when the rain of fire comes..... while we, "his" faithful servants laugh & cavort in victory."

My hope is that you will see fit to become involved in getting the word out about this garbage. Please Forward this to every pastor, teacher, and parent you know. This author has now published FOUR BOOKS in less than 2 years of this "encyclopedia of Satanism" and is surely going to write more. I also ask all Christians to please pray for this lost woman's soul. Please - Pray also for the Holy Spirit to work in the young minds of those who are reading this garbage, that they may be given discernment & Godly wisdom to be delivered from the evils these books contain.

Lastly, pray that all parents - grandparents - etc. - will grow closer to their 'children', and that a bond of sharing thoughts and spiritual intimacy will continue to grow between them.

IN HIS SERVICE;
BISHOP MARY

Love you so much
Susan.

Dearest loved ones,
I got this from a dear lady and I can write a million "Until Christ returns", but if I can open one parent's eyes through this true writing it will have more worth. Remember we experience darkness verses Light, and Jesus is the Light of the world. I know of a parent in our family that doesn't want to be bothered by her children. (don't know why she had a family). She is very rich and bought the whole Harry Potter series. Her toddlers are sent to sit and they literally stare at this wicked Videos most of the day. Please, I am begging you to send it to all on your list. If you are a grandparent, give it to your children who has small children. I have different people on my list and so do you and if we can make all parents all across the world aware of the facts in this writing, we can save many many souls, for the "seeds" are planted in the children's hearts, demons can enter them and what I say is a fact. Later they will need deliverance of these demons. I don't send "send it to all" mail as you know if it is not very very important. This is more than important, especially for those of you that have small children.

oooOooo

Have a look at this. I have to agree with the article where it says that a high preist of Satan would not use the term "god send"

Hi,

I didnt think all the article was legit but Regardless it still gets the point across.

In case you didnt know it the author herself is claiming that the books are to get darker and angrier and has insinuated that Harry is going to die in a future book, my guess is of course he will resurrect as well.

But then of course these are Childrens books so death , anger, cheating, lying, revenge are appropriate, NOT.

But then being a Mormon you are Toooo Busy being deceived yourself to know what the Truth of Jesus is!

I just love your Christlike way of telling me who I am... Thanks a bunch....
Since you really know nothing of me, I would say that you have no right to judge what I know of Jesus either. But, there are those who choose to do unrighteous judgements throughout their lives. They ignore the teachings of Christ. This I saw in the post I am replying too.

It is also interesting that you use Satans plan in getting a point across. Satans plan is to put in partial truths and then throw the big lie at you...

I really don't care if you choose to read Harry Potter or not. That is your choice. But to propogate things about it and indeed Rowling that are not true is slanderous and wrong. This is not Jesus way in the slightest.

Here you have shown your true colors.

I simply called you on it.

Hi,

I knew that you would slither in here and pretend to be Christian Like so all the while you can fight the fight for R. Rowling and her satanic ways and books.

BTW, I was quoting Rowling, she is the one who is bringing to light her dark desires and distain for Muggles and Christians, I noticed that you didn't want to comment on that you only wanted to disagree with me.

Looks you are upset that I blew your cover and didnt let you post eloquently about how you are just a humble, honorable, sort, sticking up for the so oppressed R. Rowling against those darn uppity family and youth oriented Christians.

You can go back to your LDS forum where everyone is deceived. I didnt notice any issues of righteousness over there.

I have never in my life had to pretend to be Christian like. I have always tried to model my life after Jesus Christ and do the things that He would have me do (except a particularly rebellious part of my life).
I did not come in here to fight for Rowlings book(s) either. I could care less about them. I am neither for nor against them. I was simply pointing out that what you had there was in error. I made absolutely no judgement call on the Harry Potter books. You assumed that I was making a judgement call, and in this you were absolutely and completely wrong.

I didn't argue about what Rowling said or didn't say because I don't have any proof of it either way. Nor do you, except what was in a false document. I want proof from something other than a false document.

You blew no cover of mine, because I never did have a cover. And, once again, I am neither for nor against Rowling nor her book.

YOu seem to have a problem when somebody shows you the error in what you have posted. It seems you have a problem with that. I have seen that in posts from you in quite a number of places. BTW, I am not upset in the slightest... I am quite amused at what you have been writing here.

If you haven't seen any issues of righteousness in the LDS forums, that's your problem. They are there... You just seem to ignore them.

Ignore all you want.

Hi,

My referencing and quoting Rowling is just that. I have access too and can read more than one news item in a given day.

Rowling has said that Harry is right to get angry and that he needs to get more angry and has said that he will likely die in a future book, to which I added that I am sure that he will resurrect as well being the deceiver that that material is. Im sure that you have heard of the interview as well but you would rather play ignorant and try to portray Potter books as good reading for kids.

Somehow you think you deserve a medal for not taking sides but that is again exactly why Mormonism is such a meaningless cult. It is a shame when you cant stand for righteousness and choose to remain neutral and really there is not neutrality in good vs. evil so really by default you are siding with evil by not exposing it and by not being mature enough to identify it as evil.

So congratulate yourself all you want to about how tolerant you are of evil but I for one am not impressed.

And since you brought it up

You cant follow (model) Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith.

Jesus has said to take communion in wine and unleavened bread as they represent the Blood and the Body of Jesus.

Joseph Smith changed it to water and leavened bread.

Jesus said not to add to the Scriptures or to take away from them Joseph Smith added books.

Jesus said to Baptize the Living in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Joseph Smith said to baptize the dead in who knows what.

Jesus said to do everything in the open.

Joseph Smith said to do almost everything in secret.

So who are you really following???

Actually, I have not heard of the interview that you are questioning. I have not had an interest in Harry Potter. Nowhere have I said that Harry Potter is good reading for kids (It's awful hard to teach a baby goat to read) nor children. This is you reading into what I actually said. You seem to do that a lot.
I do think that if we can get our children reading, it is a good thing. If you teach your children right from wrong then they will not depart from it... do you not believe in the scriptures?

I have not said I deserve a medal for not taking sides. I simply am stating that you have accused me of things that are untrue. It seems to me that you are using Satans tools still.

I don't believe that Harry Potter books are bad for children. They are a fantasy book. Most of the world knows that these books are fantasy. It is only the religious fanatics that seem to think this will lead to evil in the world. The facts are, there is less crime in the world today than when the books came out. Look at the crime statistics.

Anytime you get a popular series of books like these you will get the fanatics coming in and telling you how evil they are. And then, they use Satans tactics by telling lies about what people are saying (as I pointed out with the site I sent you too). That is the evil of it... Otherwise good people use Satans tactics to try to prove the evil in the book.

I don't follow Joseph Smith. I follow Jesus Christ. Always have, and always will.
Joseph did not change the Sacrament to water and leavened bread. It was Christ that revealed to Joseph that it matters not what you use just so you remember the Savior through the symbolism of this sacrament.

Where did Jesus say to not add to the scriptures? That was John in Revelation, and he said to not add or take away from the words of this book (this book was not the bible as it was not compiled as such). Also, John added to the words after he wrote that. You have a similar verse in Deuteronomy. You know what? I am not going to throw out my bible. It was talking about the particular book. And, why do you think the Lord would leave alone some of His children and have no dealings with them?

Jesus did say to baptize the living... We do this. He has revealed in our day that we are to take care of our dead also... The spirits of the children have turned to the fathers in these ordinances.

Show me where Joseph said to do almost everything in secret. I know what you are referring too, but what you said is an out and out lie, but you seem to be an expert at that....

Who am I following? I follow Jesus the Christ...

Well really its not funny.

Unless you confess your sinful human nature and acknowledge that God is separate and distinct from us sinful humans and that He is the one and only Loving, caring God who came in the flesh as Jesus Christ and He died for our own sins and then Resurrected the Third Day so that we can Live a new life of fellowship with Him in His Resurrection life.

Then you will without a doubt be sentenced in your folly and unbelief to everlasting hell.

But you are Toooo Deceived to even understand that at this very moment you are a sinful Spiritually dead human desperately in need of the Redemption and Salvation Life of Jesus Christ. That you are Not a god and that Jesus is Not your brother and Jesus is Not your Friend. You misrepresent Him, and you and ALL Mormons and ALL Cults are an Enemy of God and as an enemy you will depart the Holy presance of God.

And that is very Sad. It is sad because you and others like you are Refusing to Listen to God in His Holy Scriptures and have taken the words of Cults and of Cult leaders over that of God. It is sad because you are going to Hell forever and ultimately you have Only Yourself to Blame!

I'm sure that you think that I'm being unreasonable but the Truth is the Truth and there is only one Truth and 10 Mormons or a Billion Mormons do not invalidate or change the one Truth of the One God.

David

I find it ironic that you continue to judge me for what you think about me. It is certainly not coming with knowledge.

You say that no mormons invalidate or change the one truth of the one God. In this we agree. But I would say the same about all Christians.

Hi,

You said that I am judging you without knowledge.

Well Im really only judging your Mormon Doctrines and teachings.

You say that Jesus told Joseph (Smith) that it is irrelevant how Jesus is represented in Communion as long as you give some vague man revealed credit to some vague man revealed Jesus.

If communion can be any drink or any food why dont you allow yourselves to drink a coke or have some coffee.

Because you respect your bodies yet you DO NOT respect the body of Jesus and therefore Blaspheme Him.

It doesnt take much knowledge to judge your Mormon Doctrines because they make no sense.

On the judging of Mormon Doctrines and teachings that I have seen you spew out, you don't have an inkling what they really are. You are judging Mormon Doctrines and teachings as you find them in anti-LDS places. You don't go to the LDS to tell you about them.
Who is the "vaque man" you are referring too. Jesus Christ is the only person I give credit too, and He is the one that I partake of the communion because of. We eat and drink in remembrance of what He did for us, so that we can live again with our Heavenly Father.

There is no reason we can't have coke for the communion. We choose not too. Coffee is another problem because I am sure you are referring to the Word of Wisdom here, and God has asked us not to partake of it. It would be silly to partake of something God asked you not to partake of in remembrance of Him don't you think?

I don't know an LDS person who does not respect the body of Jesus Christ. We also respect the blood that spilled from our Lord and Savior with this process.

I will say it again. The reason LDS doctrine makes no sense to you is because you have closed your eyes to the truth. I have mine open and know what I know.

Interesting how you took this whole conversation off the Harry Potter books.

Interesting how you are a judge of me even though you know absolutely nothing about me or about anyone that I have ever met, worked with or talked to, including Mormons.

You really should refrain from your rash judgment as it does make your Reasoning suspect and therefore your Mormon stance is suspect as well.

In other words you judge Joseph Smith and his Mormon Doctrine to be credible. So What! You are demonstrating that your only discernment skills are biased.

Apart from the obvious concerns about Harry Potter is the behaviour of the parents of the children who so rabidly devour these books. These children are not only being indoctrinated with satanic and occultic principles and practises they are being instructed in the art of mindless consumerism and fanaticism as well, and as an added bonus they are being taught the even finer art of ignoring the significant in favor of the trivial. The book stores in my area stayed open till way past midnight and even had a sort of lottery for thsoe unfortunate enough to not have secured a copy of the book in advance. There was a time when fairy tales were given the attention they questionably deserved, a few minutes before bedtime if in fact they were worth that much, how pale in comparison is the incredible world wide hype that we witness with the Harry Potter books.I debated the issue with one individual who said "anything that gets kids to read is ok with me" fine! at some point they will have to read something of substance in order for reading to be of any real value to them,it reminds me of a friend of mine who has a computer,a wonderful tool of learning and the only use he has for it is to play computer games, its like using the Hubble telescope to gaze at your navel,a complete waste of time and a valuable tool. The Potter books to me are a dumbing up on the way down.

Hi,

Good comments.

We had that at least they are reading something comment a couple of years ago when we first had this topic and someone replied asked if they would buy a porno magazine for their children because they might want to read that as well, if content doesnt have any significance.

Im not around the younger crowd but in my area I really dont see the kids liking Harry Potter. Spider Man is a favorite of the kids and H.P. is considered a dork. I think some H.P. is media hype, but still it is mind poison of the first degree and it should be avoided.

God Bless you,
David

It's OK to judge with a righteous judgement. I have only judged you as far as the stuff that you have posted which from what I have seen are lies. You seem to believe the negative things that you have heard about the LDS church and none of the positive.
I too, will leave your final judgement as well as my own up to God. That is the ultimate source.

As far as Harry Potter being something that the LDS church "supports". Don't make me laugh. I have never heard it discussed in the LDS church in any way, and if it were, there is no reason for the church to support nor deny the books to anybody.

<<<If communion can be any drink or any food why dont you allow yourselves to drink a coke or have some coffee.>>>
We shouldn't do anything that is harmful to our bodies. The Bible tells us:

1 Cor. 3: 16
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

A temple should not be disrespected inside or out. Surely you do not have any problem with that. I think there is a general consensus that alcahol, coffee, tobacco, etc. are not good for the body.

<<<Because you respect your bodies yet you DO NOT respect the body of Jesus and therefore Blaspheme Him.>>>

Our reverence for the gifts of God, including good health, does not by any means Blaspheme Christ. I think that God would (at the very least) approve of our stance on a code of health.

For your own benefit, I will provide the prayer given at our weekly communion. It is provided in the last book of the Book of Mormon.

O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bbread to the souls of all those who partake of it; that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him, and keep his commandments which he hath given them, that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.
{Moro. 4: 3}

A similar one is given for the symbolic representation of Christ's blood. Water or wine ... is not the issue. It is the covenant we are making with God that matters, and the active effort we make to improve our lives. We try our best to fashion our lives after Christ's perfect example, and learn from what He has taught us.

I think that perhaps many things that you think are absolutely evil are not. It certainly isn't the best approach to spit all over what other people hold dear and sacred. An honest approach also works better than making things up to make them seem different than they actually are. That is what my friend here was trying to tell you.

The LDS church has no official statement regarding the HP books. Our children will be exposed to a number of lifestyles, religions, ideas and people in their lifetime. We teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ, and they decide for themselves.

I personally don't think will will lose our youth to witchcraft. I am more concerned the the Jedi religion, which has taken hold of much of England already. It is officially recognized now. ;)

-Stephen

P.S. I am kidding of course. (Although interestingly enough, it is officially recognized)

Interesting, since you want to preach 1st Corinthians 3:16

Lets look that 1st Corinthians the teaching that a Christian's Body is a Temple of God is in Regard to Fornication and not in regard to food and drink as fornication Adultery is Spiritual Poison and the Christian's body is a Temple of the Spirit of God.

1 Cor 3:19 For the Wisdom of this world is foolishness with God..

I guess that rules out Harry Potter and everything else that the LDS teach.

I would say that the Bible pretty well sums up that Mormonism LDS is Fake and it is Foolishness according to God!

I think the you and all of us are Better if we Read the Bible instead of just making or repeating certain misrepresented quotes.

Here is some more of 1st Corinthians and it is talking about the Requirement of One Wife and it even goes further and Extols the value of no Marriage and of being a Virgin. Of course destroying the doctrine of Mormonism.

So dont come here and Preach what you know Nothing about!!

1 Corinthians 6:15

15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

1 Corinthians 6:16

16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. {Not the Multiple Marriage partners of Mormonism}

1 Corinthians 6:17

17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:18

18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth sinneth against his own body.

1 Corinthians 6:19

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost whichis in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1 Corinthians 6:20

20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

CHAPTER 7

1 Corinthians 7:1

1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

1 Corinthians 7:2

2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

1 Corinthians 7:3

3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

1 Corinthians 7:4

4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

1 Corinthians 7:5

5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye maygive yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

1 Corinthians 7:6

6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.

1 Corinthians 7:7

7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

1 Corinthians 7:8

8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

1 Corinthians 7:9

9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

1 Corinthians 7:10

10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:

1 Corinthians 7:11

11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

1 Corinthians 7:12

12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believethnot, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

1 Corinthians 7:13

13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased todwell with her, let her not leave him.

1 Corinthians 7:14

14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

1 Corinthians 7:15

15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

1 Corinthians 7:16

16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

1 Corinthians 7:17

17 But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

1 Corinthians 7:18

18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.

1 Corinthians 7:19

19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping ofthe commandments of God.

1 Corinthians 7:20

20 Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.

1 Corinthians 7:21

21 Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.

1 Corinthians 7:22

22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.

1 Corinthians 7:23

23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

1 Corinthians 7:24

24 Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

1 Corinthians 7:25

25 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

1 Corinthians 7:26

26 I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that itis good for a man so to be.

1 Corinthians 7:27

27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.

1 Corinthians 7:28

28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

1 Corinthians 7:29

29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both theythat have wives be as though they had none;

1 Corinthians 7:30

30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though theyrejoiced not; and they that buy, as  though they possessed not;

1 Corinthians 7:31

31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

1 Corinthians 7:32

32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things thatbelong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:

1 Corinthians 7:33

33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.

1 Corinthians 7:34

34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things ofthe Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

1 Corinthians 7:35

35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.

1 Corinthians 7:36

36 But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass theflower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, hesinneth not: let them marry.

1 Corinthians 7:37

37 Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.

1 Corinthians 7:38

38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not inmarriage doeth better.

I know that adultery is wrong, you are avoiding your original bash against our religion ... That was about our Word of Wisdom. Maybe you can elaborate what is wrong with our code of health.
What exactly is "good" about alcahol, tobacco, coffee, or even Coca-Cola? Do you think that we should not avoid these substances? Why?
If I started smoking again and drinking strong drink like I used to, would I be respecting my body which is a gift from God? A body which is refered to as a Temple, and a place where the spirit of God resides.
I agree that the passage refers to spiritual problems. We are strongly cautioned to stay away from pornography, rated R movies, and other types of spiritual poison as well. But that doesn't mean that by living a code of health we are blaspheming God like you suggested.
Our church gives counsel on alcahol, tobacco, and other addictive substances quite simply because we are better off without them. Do you agree with that or not? Why?
-Stephen
P.S. The revelation is given here: http://scriptures.lds.org/dc/89
It is interesting how it discusses the evil designs of wicked men. It is quite characteristic of the times we live in. You will also notice that it is not a direct prohibition. Simply good advice because God cares about the human family and our well being.

The good advice would be to follow Jesus and not to change His teachings.

The topic is that Jesus instructed His followers to take communion using unleavened bread and wine as they represent Jesus.

1 Corinthians warns Christians about following another mans gospel which is exactly what you Mormons are providing.

True, the leavened bread and water communion of LDS represents something it represents prison food for extreme felons and condemned felons.

The topic that you joined into is not about the rules that you want to make for your body it is about the way Jesus has asked His disciples to follow Him. You can pretend to follow Jesus all you want to but unless you actually do what Jesus said to do then you are not His disciples.

So when exactly did God tell his disciples to lie about what people really believe, make things up in order to others look bad, and bash other people's sacred beliefs.

Maybe you can teach me how to be a true disciple by your example. This thread was started by another one of your lies and misrepresentations and you were called on it.

I hope there will always be somebody around to call you on your deceptions, but unfortunately I do not think that will be the case.

Hi,

Rowling has said those exact words about herself and her Harry Potter writings.

If you have a point to make I think you need to be specific instead of just gripping in general especially when the original post parrots Rowlings own words.

If you think that supporting Harry Potter somehow validates Mormonism you should rethink!

LoL,

This is really Funny!!

The Mormons insist that the Harry Potter author is quoted exactly yet they could care Less about how the one true God of Creation is quoted and followed.

This is another great example of why not to be a Mormon.

Ill have to remember this for when Im explaining the Mormon Cult people.

Thanks!

<<<The Mormons insist that the Harry Potter author is quoted exactly yet they could care Less about how the one true God of Creation is quoted and followed.>>>
I don't care who you quote. Just quote correctly. As far as Harry Potter goes, I think it is entertaining and purely fictional. I am a 22 year old guy who reads all kinds of books. I just read the Lord of the Rings series. Are you going to condemn me to Hell because of the magic found in that book and the evil wizard Gandalf.

<<<This is another great example of why not to be a Mormon.>>>

Yeah. We aren't liars and we aren't overly paranoid about fictional characters.

Please do. The more I can get you to talk, the more people you scare away from your overly paranoid, irrational, and desperate CULT.

Hi,

I think that it is obvious that the LDS does not fear nor respect the LORD otherwise you would depart from you evil of misrepresenting Him.

Proverbs 16:5-6 Everyone that is Proud in heart is an Abomination to the LORD : though hand (you) join in hand, he shall Not be Unpunished. By Mercy and Truth iniquity is purged: and by the Fear of the LORD men Depart from Evil.

Interesting. I find that it is you that is misrepresenting the Lord. I also find in interesting that when you couldn't win this argument that was based on a lie that you found it appropriate to attack the religion of the person who brought this lie forward to you. It seems to me that you still are using the tactics of the evil one, while claiming to be a Christian and a follower of Jesus.
Lies, lies... damnable lies.

Hi,

I posted a post that is in line with the quoting of Rowling and I have quoted Rowling herself. If you refuse to see the evils of Witchcraft that is up to you.

You know it doesnt make for the best of Family values and relationships when the children, upset for any reason, invoke demonic spirits upon the parents.

Im sure that raising a family is hard enough without the added demonic oppression brought on by the teachings of Harry Potter.

If Mormonism LDS had any virtue at all they would at least see the evil in this!

Little roosters are great at crowing.

"A turtle who wanted to spend the winter in Florida, but he knew he could never walk that far. He convinced a couple of geese to help him, each taking one end of a piece of rope, while he clamped his vise-like jaws in the center.

The flight went fine until someone on the ground looked up in admiration and asked, "Who in the world thought of that?"

Unable to resist the chance to take credit, the turtle opened his mouth to shout, "I did--" Homiletics" (Jan.-Mar./96)
